Today we drove back home. There have been some very nasty fires in the Big Cypress Reserve and when we went over yesterday we actually saw some spots smoldering. They had to shut down the Alley completely for 3-4 straight days last week and have been sporadically closing it (especially at night) ever since. It was quite strange seeing all this burnt stuff with green tops! And some of the burnt stuff was like rusty reddish orange! I couldn't get a good picture as we were going too fast, but when we stopped to get Steve's phone out of the suitcase, he found these grasshoppers sitting on the railing at the parking lot.
The first one is about 1" long and about 1/4" tall. I love the stripes on his back!

This one was about 2" long and about 1" tall! He seems to be saying "The Geico Gecko's got NUTHIN' on ME!" :)

And finally, my 5 year old grandson Noah has been begging his mommy for a mohawk haircut for weeks. She finally broke down today and gave him one! My little baby's not so little anymore! WHERE has the time gone!?!

I'm glad you had a good trip, Ginni - so glad that Baxter enjoyed it. It is so sad when those fires burn in Florida!! We lived in Ft. Myers for a few years and they got terribly close to us a few times.
I LOVE Noah's haircut - SO cute!!!
A 2" grasshopper-yikes. Great pics. Your gs's hair is cute. I always try to get my ds to do a faux hawk, but he won't let me put gel or anything in it.
What GREAT pics... loving the mohawk too!!
