Deck the Halls Card

Can you believe the holiday season is almost here??? I am striving to get things done earlier this year so that I don't end up in an absolute panic trying to finish things up at the last minute. So this is one of the cards I've made already. I used a sketch by our very on DT Member Lucy Chesna and Kreaxions Punch #312 Snowflake Punch with Templates A and C to create this fun card.

Materials – Sketch – Lucy Chesna; Card Base – Recollections; Patterned Paper – Anna Griffin, Unknown; Punch – Kreaxions #312 with Templates A and C; Sticker Anna Griffin; Pearls – Queen & Company; Rhinestones – Recollections; Pen - Uniball
The corners are cut with Template C. The blue pieces (cut away piece is on the left side) were cut with Template A. I used a gold pen to fill in the larger snowflakes so they would "shine". Then I added some pearls from Queen and Company and some rhinestones from Recollections. Everything is also outlined with that gold pen. This card was quick and easy to make and uses up a LOT of scrap pieces!

I am so excited to share my project today! I did two pages. The first is the original and the second is the one I created from the scraps from page one...

First is my Grandson Robert last October. I love the concentration on his face! I didn’t have any pre-made embellishments at all. So I had to create all of my embellishments with my punch. I wanted to create a punched circle so my Kreaxions Circle Cutter, my Kreaxions Stencils & Kreaxions 4-in-1 Punch #909 with no template were the perfect tools.
First cut an 8” circle. Then flip the paper over & use the Kreaxions Stencil A (for larger circles) to draw pencil lines for punching. Use those lines & the center mark on the punch to line it up. I used the cut away piece on this page. Cut another 8” circle from the purple cardstock to place behind this piece. Then take a piece of vellum and your punch with no template & line up the edge of the punch against the edge of the previously punched area. Do this all the way around the page. For the photo mat use Template B & then replace the cut out sections with the cut-away pieces. Next punch a border with Template A & black cardstock. I placed purple cardstock behind the black border. Finally use all the little star pieces (& a few extra) to give your page more pizzazz. (They don’t call me the Punch Piece Queen for nothing! LOL!) Punch some triangular pieces from the black cardstock (which would make GREAT bats for any Halloween page!) & add them in groups of 3 around the circle. Finally you can add a LOT of little brads placing them in alternating dark & light orange around the page. To finish the page off I got my black, purple and orange Stickles to fill in the centers of the little star pieces. Add some title letters & outline the circle with black ink to make it show just a bit more. The beauty of the design of this page is that you could use it for ANY theme with any type of papers. It could even be used for cards on a smaller scale!

My second page is about my Granddaughter Molly. Use the cutaways from the first layout to create this page. Cut a 4x6 picture down to 4 x 3½, put photo corners on it & place it in the center of the punched circle. Punch the corners of the purple cardstock with Template B & use the cutaway pieces on the four corners of the layout. I added some Stickles in purple & orange around the page & used Momenta letter stickers & Cosmo Cricket date stickers to finish the page.

Perspective

The photo is of my husband walking along a Southeast Alaska beach while the tide was out and a cruise ship went by. I just LOVE the perspective it gives of how large the ship is, how far the tide was out and how small my husband looks!

A Very Special Moment

This picture is of my Grandson Robert and his cousin Sophia at the Family Day Celebration. I created this page for the My Scraps & More Labor Day Crop. It was a recipe challenge. There’s 5 patterned papers (2 are vellum), 2 punched borders, 3 punched butterflies, 2 die cut and embossed butterflies, and hand stitching throughout. The punched border on the left side is the cutaway piece from the bottom border.

The left border is the cut-away piece. I used Kreaxions Butterfly Punch #604 for the small butterflies and the Kreaxions Butterfly Die to create the larger butterflies which I then embossed with my Cuttlebug. May We NEVER Forget!!! 9-11 Tribute

When 9-11 happened, I had just begun to scrapbook. I wanted to make a tribute page for my scrapbook. Instead I ended up making an album! Here are a few pages from that album and some pictures from the Pentagon. My father worked just a couple of miles away. They heard the plane that hit the Pentagon and also felt the ground move at the impact! In December my husband and I went to see the Pentagon being rebuilt. It was BITTER cold but there were still a lot of people there. Click on the images to see them in larger format... May we NEVER forget what happened this day!!! God Bless America!!!

FINALLY My Scrapper's Block is GONE!

I don't know what happened, but after returning from Alaska I just had ZERO mojo/motivation/inspiration for scrapping! I was beginning to despair that I'd lost my touch but I can finally say that's not so! I'm SOOOOOOO happy! This was the worst case of Scrapper's Block I've had since I started scrapping 11 years ago! So I just HAVE to share what I made! :) First off is my September layout for the My Sketch World sketch. The pictures are from our Houston crop this summer. We went to the most AMAZING Mexican restaurant! I wish they had this place in Florida because I'd MAKE my husband stand in line and wait for this food! LOL! I used a really old My Mind's Eye kit.

Next up are the pages I created this weekend for the My Scraps & More Back to Class Crop. There's still time to play so be sure to come join us this week! First is a single page for the Journalism Class. I will highlight this page on the Just Imagine/Kreaxions blog later this month to explain how I made the punched borders and photo mat. Be sure to read the journaling because it's a funny story!

Secondly is a two-page layout about a relatively new statue called "The Rock". It's located on the cruise ship dock in Ketchikan, Alaska and I absolutely LOVED it! The attention to detail on each part of this statue was AMAZING! The left side is for the Foreign Language Class and is the Tlingkit welcome on the plaque.

The right side is for the Music Class. Because the statue was about the pioneers who settled Ketchikan, I used the VERY old song "North to Alaska".

And last but not least is another two-page layout. These pages are the pictures we took as we were leaving Ketchikan. I cried when the plane took off! Someday it will be time to return and live there again... This page is a Close to My Heart sketch and I again used a Kreaxions punch. This page is for the Shop Class (black paint for grease and things with wheels)

The second page is for the Art Class which challenged us to use doodling on our layout. Every single solitary piece on this page is outlined with a pen! I used my Kreaxions Circle Cutter again and again used a Kreaxions Punch. I will also be featuring these pages later this month on the Just Imagine/Kreaxions blog.

My Scraps & More August DT Reveals

Wow! I can't believe it's been a whole month since I last posted! What a BUSY month it's been too! After my trip to the My Sketch World Houston Crop I had about 2 1/2 weeks to prepare for another big trip. This time my husband and I went to his hometown of Ketchikan, Alaska. We had a BLAST and did lots of fun things! I'm hoping that Hurricane Isaac will stay away because it was my intention to post pictures and stories on my blog this weekend... But in the meantime, I want to share my creations for the My Scraps & More August Design Team. Tammi gave me the FABULOUS Echo Park "Pride and Joy" mini kit to play with. I chose to use it for pictures of my youngest grandson Garrett when he was born almost two years ago... I also used sketches and challenges from the My Scraps Got Talent II Contest which ended a few days ago.

I used ink for my distressing and my Creative Memories wavy trimmer to make this border. Sketch by Kristine Davidson. I cut the circles with the Kreaxions Circle Cutter. I used the Kreaxions Stencil to punch the border with Kreaxions 4-in-1 Punch #920 with no template around the circle. My Kreaxions Punch Mate helped! Then I used the extra pieces on the photo corners, star template and smaller circle. I outlined all of the punched elements with my pen.

Sketch by Kristine Davidson. My DD had emptied the tub but Garrett wouldn’t get out because he wanted to keep playing. LOL! I painted my chipboard circles and covered them with Crystal Lacquer. I also got creative with my title letters. The E was a B, the Y was an X and both of the Os were Qs! I also had duplicate pictures so I took one and cut it into a smaller circle then popped it directly over the other picture. I hope these creations have inspired you! My Scraps & More July Design Team Reveal

Today I'm revealing my projects for the July My Scraps & More Design Team. The kit this month featured Jillibean Soup. I have to admit that it took me awhile to "get into" these papers. But once I did, I had GREAT fun! So I challenge you to find some papers you're not too sure about, find a sketch or a challenge on your favorite internet site and CREATE!!! :) First up is a page about my granddaughter Molly. We just had our second get-together and it was just as awesome as the first one! LOVE these ladies!!!

July 1 My Sketch World Layout Sketch Reveal

Hello out there! I am so sorry that I haven't been very active here. I was gone for 20 days with a family emergency, came home to a sick husband and another urgent family situation. Then my parents and brothers were in that recent storm that hit the Washington DC area and haven't had power, internet or phone for three days! June was a very tough month! But through it all God showed His grace, mercy and MIRACULOUS power! I lost count of all the miraculous things He did in our lives during this time frame! He is SOOOOOOO AWESOME! :)
Anyway, during that whole time I was hundreds of miles away from my scrappy supplies and was quite grateful to have some design team work to do when I returned home! The My Sketch World July Layout Sketch was the second project I completed... And what a joy it was to do such a girly layout of my beautiful granddaughter Molly!

My Scraps & More Reveal

Hi everyone! So very sorry it's been so long since I posted. My family had an emergency and I've been in Virginia since Memorial Day. Things are finally calming down and I should be home soon thank God! Thankfully I was able to complete my reveals for the June kit from My Scraps & More. I was blessed to play with the Fancy Pants "Wave Surfer" line and boy did I have FUN! Here's what I created:

Punched Circles

Hello! I would just like to thank everyone for your kind comments for the blog hop this weekend! What a GREAT blog hop that was!!! :) Today I'm going to feature punched circles. This is a picture of my Mom in 1946 when she was about 17 or 18 with a young man she almost married. Then she met my Dad and that was the end of that relationship! When I saw this picture years ago all I could think about was how different things would have been for everyone! It’s amazing how one decision can make such a difference in so many lives! Anyway, I wanted to keep the nostalgic/heritage feel of this page but the elements in this Fancy Pants' Wave Searcher Line (my June DT kit from My Scraps & More) were way too modern. So I had to create something that would work.Materials – All Papers, All Chipboard – Fancy Pants’ Wave Searcher; Stamps, Letter Stamps – CTMH; Inks – Stampin Up, CTMH; Punches – Kreaxions #310 with Template A, Kreaxions #909; Twine – Unknown; Stickles – Ranger; Bling – Queen & Company; Pen – Sharpie

I cut a 10" circle and a 9" circle with my Kreaxions Circle Cutter. Then I used the Kreaxions Stencils on the reverse side of the paper to draw guide lines for punching. And using the Kreaxions Punch Mate made it easy to punch through the papers! (I LOVE that tool!) The result is a page that I absolutely LOVE! So I hope that the next time you need something for your page that isn't provided with your kit that you'll pull out your Kreaxions punches and circle cutter and make your own punched circles! I am so excited to share my project today! I created a wedding card for one of my nieces. The technique was quite simple but the effect was very dramatic!

Materials – Cardstock– Unknown, DCWV; Border Punch – Kreaxions #311 with Templates A and C;Sentiment Sticker – MAMBI; Stickles – Ranger; Ribbon – Offray

I used KreaxionsPunch #311 with Templates A & C. First I punched the top border with Template A. Then I punched the corner with Template C. I continued around the card using Template A for the straight line and Template C for the corners. I used the edges of the punched image for spacing. Once I was done I added theribbon and green Stickles to imitate the colors in her invitation. Then I placed the whole piece on a black card base. Simple, quick, easy and beautiful!

The First May Reveals and Challenges

It's already May!!!  My how this year has flown by already!  And soon it will be summertime and all the busy-ness of summer will be here.  I don't know about you but my summer is already getting full!!! So today I want to share with you some of the happenings in May and projects from the end of April. 

First of all May 8-13 there will be a Mother May I Crop at My Scraps and More.  There will be games and challenges and LOTS of fun plus you can win prizes!  So I hope you'll join us there!  As always there are daily challenges posted in the My Scraps and More forum so if you're looking for a fun place to hang out, this is one of the ones I recommend!

Next, Just Imagine/Kreaxions will be hosting a blog hop May 18-20.  More info on that to come.  But in the meantime, you can find daily inspiration on their blog.  And if you're looking for the perfect circle cutter or some fun dies or some AWESOME punches, go to the Just Imagine/Kreaxions Store.  There's some really fun new things there!

And here is my version of that sketch.  I had fun with some VERY old pictures of myself arriving at a surprise birthday party my friends held for me.  This was back in 1983 when I was single and skinny!  LOL!

I created the circle using the Kreaxions Circle Cutter, Kreaxions Positioning Parts and Kreaxions 4-in-1 Punch #920.  I cut the title with my Cricut using “All Mixed Up” font.  Materials – Cardstock – Bazzill, Unknown; Patterned Papers – Basic Grey; Bling – K & Company; Stickles – Ranger; Pen – Sharpie; Punch – Kreaxions #920; Ink – Colorbox

These are pictures of some of my cousins in 1992.  I colored white photo corners with my ink.

Simple Beauty

Sometimes it's the simple things that are the most beautiful!  This card looks difficult but it really only took me 15 minutes to create!  I used the Lattice Die from the Just Imagine Store for the background.  I cut three leaves from green cardstock using Kreaxions Punch #602 and six flowers from pink cardstock using Kreaxions Punch #603.  I adhered two flowers together and curled the petals on the top flower then attached to a green leaf.  Then I adhered them to my lattice and base.  Add a sentiment and some pearls or bling and you have a simple, quick and easy but beautiful card!

Materials – Cardstock – American Crafts, CTMH; Stamp – Stampin Up; Ink – CTMH; Pearls – Queen & Company
Just a few scrap pieces of cardstock, a die and two punches.  How much easier could it get?!

My Scraps & More April DT Reveal!

I'm SOOOOOOO excited to be revealing my very first My Scraps & More Design Team projects!!! Tammi, the owner of MS&M, sent me the most ADORABLE papers from Bo Bunny's "On the Go" line! You can find them in the store here
Here are the projects I created using those papers and embellishments -
When I saw this chipboard piece I totally knew which pictures I wanted to use with it! The journaling reads “This is what happens when Mom works all the time!” And “Garrett’s new chair! LOL!” And the large journaling box (which I created by outlining the title chipboard piece) reads “Brett was preparing to sell these tire rims so he had them on the table to take pictures of them. Garrett thought they were new chairs made just for him! So cute!!!” I created the background paper by cutting out the circles from one of the pieces of paper in the kit and then adhering them on the black cardstock randomly. The “diagonal” pieces are 4x4 pieces turned so they are diagonal.

I had great fun with my Kreaxions Punch #906 with Template A on this layout about Noah’s head bang. (By the way, he was fine but it was a nasty bump!) I used the cut away piece for the middle border. My Xyron X was a GREAT help with this project! The orange bling is Stickles… To see more about how I created this page, go to the Tuesday April 10th Just Imagine/Kreaxions blog post.
Materials – All materials are Bo Bunny’s “On the Go” from the MS&M store except Cardstock – Bazzill; Pens – Sharpie, Omni Gel; Stickles – Ranger; Ink – CTMH; Title cut with Cricut using George font.

This chipboard title was PERFECT for this picture which was PERFECT for these papers! I simply used a Sharpie to “color” the edges and added some Crystal Lacquer. I also added some lacquer in a few strategic places around the page. The “stitching” is drawn with a pen. The journaling reads “Mommy sure loves me a lot! She posted this on Facebook along with this picture… ‘Yeah… still going strong at 11 PM. Sigh… it’s hard to stop him when he’s so quiet playing in his corner…’ … I sure am glad she let me keep playing!”

To create this card I used the excess pieces from the "Ouch" project. Then I cut out the wings shape from one of the pieces of paper in the kit and added the sticker in the center. The title is letter stickers from the kit and with some orange Stickle dots I had a fun card for one of my grandsons' upcoming birthdays!

Space Center Houston

While I was creating this page for my first challenge as a My Scraps and More Design Team Member, I wanted to add some stars to represent the space theme. 

Materials – Sketch – CTMH; Cardstock – Bazzill, Bazzill Bling; Patterned Papers, Stickers – October Afternoon (from the My Scraps & More store); Pen – Sharpie; Stickles – Ranger

So I pulled out Kreaxions Punch #913 and started punching!   Even though it’s supposed to be a lily, it also looked like a star to me!  The border was created border using Kreaxions Punch #913 with Template A.  I saved the little pieces and used them to create the center border.  The corners were created with Template B.  And I created the star using the Kreaxions Star Stencil and punched with no template.  I turned my punch over so I could see my placement better.

I just simply punched in the center of each point!  Then I added a little dab of Stickles in the centers and I had my star themed page!
