I admit it. I'm a terrible housekeeper. Don't get me wrong, my house isn't a pile of junk nor is it filthy. But I would rather do anything (especially something scrappy) rather than do dishes and/or housework. So when DH started talking about his sons and granddaughter coming down for a visit after Christmas I figured I'd better do some real cleaning. After all, we've been remodeling for the past 3 years AND we had my daughter, son-in-law and grandson plus two extra dogs in the house for most of the past three years. Plus we've had to put on a new roof from hurricane damages. Yep. It was time to do some drastic cleaning.
So me and my little pea brain decided that renting a rug cleaner would be a quick, easy way to clean the rugs in the living room and bedroom. Our house is completely tiled and we just have the large rug next to the bed and a large rug with a smaller round one in the living room.
So off I go to the Home Depot and home I come with my shampooer and an artificial tree. My thinking was that I'd clean the carpets that afternoon and then the next day I'd put up the tree. My first mistake was thinking I'd be right!!!
The machine was easy enough to operate which is good cuz I've never done this before. Instructions say "clean until you get clear water." Well, I expected the water to be pretty bad and I wasn't surprised. But two hours later after non-stop back and forth shampooing it still wasn't clean! And now my carpet is starting to smell like wet dogs. ICKY POO!
Long story short, I had to rent the machine for ANOTHER DAY and finally returned it on the third day! My rugs look MUCH better and I finally got most of the smell out - Febreeze did the rest! And I was quite pleased with myself for having done it all by myself!
Needless to say, though, it won't be that long before I'm renting this red monster again and keeping up with things a little bit better than I have in the past! I certainly don't want to go through that again! Hehe! (Neither do my muscles for that matter!)
But what the hay! I'll get a great scrapbook page for my Book of Me out of it! Hehe!
Happy Scrapping!
