Excitement Last Night!

I had every intention of blogging last week. Then I was gonna blog today. But I had no idea that I'd really have something to blog about this morning!
I've been having a really hard time sleeping lately and last night I decided to take 1/2 sleeping pill. Well, I'm just about to fall asleep finally at 1 AM and I hear this car go by really fast and make these really strange noises. Then I hear some loud thumps and I realize there's been an accident. We live on a corner near a busy main street and there's always some sort of traffic going by. But normally we don't hear anything. Well, I jumped up and looked out the window only to find a Ford F-150extended cab pickup truck in the bushes across the street!!! The lights are on and I think the engine's still running but I don't see anyone anywhere! I hollered at Steve to wake up that there's been a bad accident and grabbed my phone to call 911. This all took less than 30 seconds. I no more dialed the number than an officer pulled up behind the truck! Long story short, it became obvious that the cops were either chasing or looking for this driver. Apparently he had come down our street and didn't slow down at the stop sign to make the turn (thus the sounds of the wheels catching on the pavement that I heard)! He took out a huge chunk of the hedge for the condos across the street, took out 2 small palm trees, damaged 2 other small palm trees and also damaged several cars parked on the other side of the hedge!!! And apparently he bailed out of the truck at some point (I suspect before the truck even finished making the turn judging from the angle of the truck and the fact that I never saw anyone anywhere)!!! Next thing I knew there were about 6 cop cars all around the place. A few had a little mini-conference and then 3 cars took off with lights and sirens blaring. Meanwhile, two others started going through the truck looking for ID, drugs and weapons I'm sure. It seemed that they probably knew who was driving since they didn't seem to be worried about fingerprints or anything. Then it took the poor tow truck driver a FULL 1/2 hour to get the truck out of the bushes and onto the tow truck bed! I never got to see the damage on the truck itself, but judging from the damage to the trees this morning, it must have been somewhat major!
Here's a picture from last night of the truck in the bushes and another one from this morning of all the damage he left behind.

So, true to form around here, there's never a dull moment! And it certainly gave me an opportunity to thank God that our house wasn't damaged and that none of our vehicles were damaged either!
Drive safely!
