I live in South Florida so thunderstorms and lightning are a common occurrence. But today it got a little too close for comfort! I was returning from a morning of searching the mall for a birthday present for my mom. After going to several stores I was finally successful and got her a beautiful pearl necklace and matching earrings. When I got home I had some trash in the car (read Starbucks Mocha Frappucino cup!) and thought I'd throw it in the can before I dragged all my stuff that I'd purchased during the day into the house. I turned away from the trash can took a couple of steps when it happened! I heard the crack, saw the flash and heard one of the loudest BOOMS I've ever heard! I was so stunned that my heart started racing and I just clasped my hands to my chest standing there looking at the open car door I was about to touch!!! It took a few seconds to gather my composure and I thought "I'd better get this stuff inside quickly!" I grabbed my stuff and by the time I'd taken the 10-15 steps to the front door it had happened twice more! My poor dog was so glad to see me!
Later, I went into the bathroom and thought "What in the world?!" Long story short, it seems that the explosion in the sky had been so violent that it knocked water out of the toilet and all over the seat and the floor!!!!! Thankfully, there's no damage to the house anywhere and our brand new roof isn't any worse for the wear. But I could do without such excitement and drama that's for darn sure!!!
