Usually by now we are cooling off enough to at least be able to open the windows at night... But not this year! We have been so hot that for the past 3 weeks we've been setting records for how high the lows are in the middle of the night!!! Several nights we've had lows of about 85 or so!!! Now don't get me wrong. I'd MUCH rather have the heat than the cold, snow and ice. But isn't there a happy medium somewhere? :) They keep telling us it's going to cool off. It did for a couple of days. But then it got quite hot and has stayed that way. The good news is that it's been too hot for any hurricanes to form. We like that! Only been in the cone once or twice and only for a few hours each time. We like that too! Only a few more days and we'll be out of hurricane season! We especially like that! But I don't know how I'm gonna get in the Holiday spirit if I can't open my windows for a LITTLE while! :)
Normally this time of year our weather is starting too cool off. We'll get into the low 70s at night and are able to give the a/c a rest at night and get some fresh air. That's when I start thinking about my favorite time of the year. Christmas! I love all the Christmas carols with everyone singing happy songs and singing about Jesus. I love all the beautiful lights everyone puts out all over their houses and yards. I love how everyone seems to be happy and having parties and excited about the Hanukah and Christmas parties and celebrations. And THIS year I've told Steve that we are going to Virginia for Christmas. I don't care if we have to drive our little car up on Christmas Eve. We are going. I'm not going alone and we're not staying here alone ever again. It's horrible!
Michele doesn't want us to tell Noah that we're coming. She wants it to be his Christmas surprise. I'd love to tell him earlier, but totally understand that he'll be driving her crazy cuz he misses us so much!
And we'll be bringing Baxter with us too. It's time he met the entire family! He loves to "talk" to them on the phone. He hears their voices and comes running. I put it on speaker and they say hello and he either licks the phone or puts his neck on it like he's hugging it. Awwww! He's gonna have so much fun with Noah.
Which brings up another preparation for this winter. Dog training. We have GOT to figure out what works with this dog so he won't be quite so vicious around other dogs and some people! Now THAT's gonna be an interesting adventure I'm sure... Guess we'd better watch more Dog Whisperer shows! :)
Soon it will be time to pull out my Thanksgiving Pilgrim decorations. I did a layout about them the other day using a Lucy Chesna sketch. Here it is:

I love cooking Thanksgiving dinner! Even if it's just for Steve and I! But we're hoping some friends can join us this year.
And soon after Thanksgiving I will be meeting an online friend and her husband who will be in town for a few hours. I'm SOOOOOOOOOOO excited about that!!! What fun we'll all have together!
Before we know it I'll have all my Christmas decorations out and my Christmas music playing and I'll be begging Steve to drive me around the neighborhoods so I can see everyone's pretty lights. I can hardly wait! Is it December yet???
