Last week Mars was closer to the moon than it had been in 60,000 years. And it was a full moon too! And my daughter who's pregnant with her second child went into early labor. She spent the whole weekend in the hospital last weekend and finally came home Monday morning. I flew up from Florida on Saturday thinking that I'd arrive to a baby already here or shortly to arrive. The doctors were able to hold things off and so far, no baby yet. However, as I'm typing this post I'm watching the local news here in Virginia and they're telling us how our area will be affected by Hurricane Earl which is due to hit in a couple of hours. Having lived through a direct hit by a Category 2 hurricane just a couple of miles from the shoreline, I'm not too worried about this one.
EXCEPT... What's that old wive's tale about hurricanes and babies????? Yep. Seems to be affecting my daughter today for sure! She's been having contractions off and on all week. But this afternoon they got strong enough for her to stop what she's doing and breathe through them. Will this baby make its appearance tonight??? Only God knows! The due date isn't till October 11 according to the drs. But according to Michele and Brett, the drs are 2 1/2 weeks later than they should be. So if Michele and Brett are right, we're right inside that "safe" delivery period. And according to the sonogram before she went into the hospital, the baby should be around 6 to 6 1/2 pounds by now. My daughter is only 5'2" and has figured if this baby makes it to the dr's delivery date, it will be around 9 pounds!!!! Poor Michele!
And so the waiting continues. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying the time with Noah and Michele and Brett and their 3 cats. This weekend my brother and his fiance and her twin teens will be here for lots of fun and great food. Next weekend my parents and my other brother arrive for another fun time. And when they leave I'll probably go with them for the long drive back to Florida. They're coming for a couple of weeks of sun and fun. And while I'm up here having all this fun, poor Steve and Bax are home alone.
Hopefully October will turn out to be a very quiet month because this summer has been one BUSY, CRAZY one for all of us!!! And before we know it, Thanksgiving and Christmas will be upon us! And by then we'll have a baby that's at least a couple months old to pass around between all the family members. Oh the photo ops I'll have! :)
