Honor a Child

My friend Tammy Malone has a challenge posted on her blog. (You can access it by going to Life on Possum Trot in my fav blogs section.) The challenge is to use her sketch to create a layout honoring a child or children. She lost a son to cancer several years ago. You can read Michael's story on her blog.

Here's the sketch:

So I created this layout about my two grandchildren - Molly and Noah. This picture was taken on December 23, 2007. In hindsight, I would do several things differently on this layout (like typing the journaling over the door and THEN printing the picture!), but I don't often change layouts once I've completed them. And I can't get any more of most of the items I used here. So this will have to do.

The journaling on the door reads "Notice all the spinning tops all over the floor! And that's Greg sitting with his nerf gun ready for his next victim." The printed journaling reads "Greg, Jeff, Mike and Molly drove down from St. Pete for a few hours. They could only stay until the wee hours of the morning because they had an appointment to get their picture taken the next day. It was to be their Mom’s last Christmas and they wanted to make it special for her. She was dying of breast cancer. It was also the first Christmas that all of our children were in one place at the same time. So we had great fun watching the boys shooting each other with the Nerf guns. We had great fun watching Molly and Noah open their early Santa gifts and we had great fun just being a family and forgetting about our troubles for a few hours. I took a ton of pictures, but this one is one of my favs because Santa brought Molly something she hadn’t told anyone that she wanted! She was SO excited!" There's a bunch more pictures that go with the events this night, but they'll have to go on another LO! And I'm STILL finding tops, nerf bullets and even a gun in the house 8 months later! :) Amazing what you find when you move a book or couch!

Tammy, thank you for an awesome sketch to work with! God bless you!
